The Turtle Island Trail-Part One: Join Us for a virtual walking tour along an ancient Algonquin Indian footpath that united the Algonquin people…and helped define America.
Although Route 22 does not go through Pine Hill, most viewers have walked along some part of it without knowing they were treading in the footsteps of the ancient ones. It is studded from end to end with famous Native American historical sites, and colonial American ones as well. As Europeans learned about indigenous ideas of freedom from Algonquins it became a cradle of democracy. In this multi-media presentation, native historian and author Evan Pritchard will guide us along the first half of that journey (“Part one” ) from Mount Royal in Canada to the site of Henry Hudson’s landing on Manhattan and the World Trade Center to The Forks of the Delaware at Easton, Pa, and a hundred more destinations in between. Pritchard will describe the journey mile by mile, showing us how it was designed to offer free food and lodging for breakfast, lunch and dinner for each traveler. Though it is much more difficult today, viewers will learn how to see Algonquin America on 20 miles and zero dollars a day.
